Two sessions in one. First, we had a walkabout in Portland at peak allergy season. Then we got together in my living room to shoot some portraits that would eventually end up being on the cover of his debut solo EP.
We walked the Astoria pier, got drunk and did karaoke with the locals before driving home at the crack of dawn, all in the span of 24 hours. Somewhere in between all of that we took some amazing photos on the beach.
When I got together with Erik Emanuelson to talk about press photos for his band, Grand Lake Islands, he was especially drawn to the mysterious qualities of Polaroid photography, and how often they tend to feel timeless.
