INTIMATE RESTAURANT WEDDING
These two win the award for most touching wedding ceremony that included the phrase “you do not complete me” in the bride’s vows. Getting to see different spins on actual events is a fun part of working in the wedding industry. But I especially love bearing witness to all the different flavors of love that are out there. Sada and Steven have such a special brand of devotion and I felt honored to be able to peek a bit behind the curtain.
Their incredibly intimate wedding took place at Sada’s brother’s restaurant, Holdfast. A close friend was ordained by the Universal Life Church so he could officiate. Jokes were cracked, a few tears shed, and Steven got scientific on us for second.
Everyone reconvened at Sada and Steven’s new home in SE Portland after a light dinner and some celebratory cupcakes. That’s where the second reception took place in the form of their famous karaoke parties. Folks brought their A game with the song choices, but Steven’s family pulled out all the stops.
It was a nice reminder that you don’t need all the bells and whistles of a traditional wedding to feel the same emotional impact. And often times people can be more likely to let loose in an intimate, familiar setting. What’s the saying? Oh, right, “You do you.” And they did.
