Melanie & Callen | Rainy Wahclella Falls Wedding

May 31, 2016

A Wahclella Falls Elopement

When they decided they were going to get married in front of a waterfall in the Pacific Northwest, Melanie and Callen’s friends back home in Texas probably thought they’d gone crazy. I’ll admit to keeping all my fingers and toes crossed as we crept closer to their wedding date; November isn’t a month known for its bountiful rays of sunshine here in Oregon.

And though it was chilly, and the leaves started swirling around as sheets of rain unleashed pretty much the minute we made it to Wahclella, and Melanie’s dress was decorated with an ombré of mud, and my camera was so rain-spattered that it was sometimes impossible to focus on anything at all… It was still somehow utterly perfect. Fearless couples like these two make my job so much more exciting and fulfilling. When you relax into the day and all its twists and turns, that’s when you open yourself up to true joy. That’s when we get to make photos that mean something.
