Passionate Columbia River Gorge Wedding in Mosier, OR
I’ve talked before about how some of my most cherished memories happened at weddings that don’t fit in my standard photography packages. This Columbia River Gorge wedding is in fact one of those days that comes to mind.
Once Danielle and Nathan had a baby together, they started planning their wedding. Both of them are self-employed, which of course means there was no paid leave. As a result the wedding plans were very DIY in nature. When Nathan first emailed me they had already found a venue — a plot of land overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. It was basically someone’s front yard in Mosier, OR that they were going to transform into a gorgeous, outdoor wedding.
Shortly after Nathan’s email we met up in person. With their little cherub in tow, we talked about what aspects of their day were the most important. I don’t know what’s inside of me sending the signal that this isn’t a wedding I want to miss. It sounds cheesy, but mostly it’s a vibe.
As soon as they spoke I could sense the reverence these two have for their union. How profoundly they felt the meaning of declaring that officially in front of their communities. The magnitude of exchanging vows between not only each other, but also their daughters. Not to mention pooling these merry bands of friends & family whose talents and efforts made this beautiful day possible.
Without a doubt I knew that this was going to be a day with its focus on all the right places. I’m so delighted we were able to sort out the nitty gritty stuff so I could be there to witness it, too.
