Ben’s been apartment hunting in Portland for a hopeful move in July, so we’ve been getting our fill of foodventures this month. I had film to drop off in St. John’s last weekend which finally led us to giving pork chops on a stick a shot. I mean, it’s not like anyone had to twist our arms or anything.
All I can say is… I have nothing to say. First, let it be known that corndogs disgust me, and I’ve never really been a popsicle kind of girl. And yet, the offerings of Stick-It left both Ben and me totally speechless.
Never have I savored anything as I did that baby chop. Coming from a girl who can spend an entire afternoon drinking one can of soda, that’s saying a lot, but any prior ideas I had about what made a hunk of meat worth gnawing on were rewritten on that day.
First, all future attempts at cooking meat at home will not be done without marinades. Second, I have to figure out how to cook food over an open flame in my apartment without taking the whole building down with me. Last, but not least, food on a stick is funner than frick to eat!
Stick-It is just down the street from Blue Moon, where I get my film developed. I have no idea how I’ll keep this treat a treat, especially since I’m going back this Saturday to pick up 5 (!!!) rolls of film. Heaven help me.

[https://www.flickr.com/photos/diyosa] Totally! Moving is hard… I imagine buying a house is even harder! But, porkchops on a stick await you and Ricky’s return to the PNW. We’re ready when you are. :)
Hahah.. i’m so busy with the transition i can barely get my butt on flickr. but yes.. eventually!
Well, you have more than convinced me to venture out and try it!
Oh YUM!!! I am heading up to Portland soon, and in my internet food research, I came across this place and almost died! If it’s a bit of a drive, I don’t know that I’ll be able to make it out there w/out a car… but MAN that looks delish!!
It’s really not that bad! ~a 20 minute drive from my NE apartment and that’s mostly due to traffic. I’ve rode my bike out there (7 miles each way) and it takes around 40 minutes, and on the bus it’s a very fast 30 minutes. Also, if you like, y’know, want some company with that porkchop, let me know. ;)
Yes please. What a genius idea.

That looks amazing.
holy moley! i’m totally getting one of those this weekend.
huh, I was just looking at this cart online yesterday. bit of a trek for me; good to know it’ll be worth it. I’ll have to save it for when I finally get around to lugging a batch of film over there.
Whoa, how kismet! Yeah, I live in the NE and St. John’s still feels like it’s too far away. I would definitely need the assistance of a car to get out there on a regular basis if I lived anywhere else in Portland! It’s definitely worth it, though.
