Best of 2013

December 16, 2013

Two years can seem like a very long time.

It’s how long I worked at my grueling day job after we moved to Portland, before I quit to become a Full Time Adventurer. Every one of those days seemed to pass at a slower crawl than the last. And yet, it’s also been two years now since I plunged into the deep end and it still feels like it’s all flown by just as crazy fast as it did last year.

This year’s recap comes with a twist… See, these last 12 months were so awesome that I seemed to have crossed over some kind of radness quota — a point of no return that left my little corner of the internet neglected. Sometimes it can be hard to manage the work/life/adventure balance, but the good news is that you’ll be among the first to see many of these photos.

As I look back on this year — all the stories, new friendships, and even the rekindling of friendships with clients from years past — I’m reminded of a conversation I had in college with my photography professor. I’d been working on a massive project and as I thanked him for helping me wrangle a group of classmates to help, I said I couldn’t have done it without them. In a neverending quest to build my confidence he replied, “Yes, you could have.” And I told him, “Well, I wouldn’t have wanted to, anyway.”

I’m not sure if I’ll ever get to a point where I stop being surprised when people have complete trust in my creative vision, but I do know I’ll never stop being grateful.

It goes without saying, but I’m really looking forward to what we all create together in the next 12 months.

Thank you.

Kim, Somehow, today I still look at amazing photos created from your creativity and I secretly visiting your page again to see all of your amazing photos. We have move back from Portland to Thailand but the memories you have created for us will always be there. With our 5 years anniversary coming. I have been looking all of our photos that you took so much more often. Thank you

I’ve been following your amazing work for a while now and I’m glad to see things are going great. Hopefully 2014 will be even better!

Awesome collection! Love your work!

Incredible! The groom and best man photo is so hilariously classic I’d hang it on my wall. But the one of the couple on the bridge is divine. You’ve had a great year!

Aaahh this is so much awesome, I can’t even contain myself. Love all of them (especially Kate’s :) ) Keep on rocking!!

Beautiful, Kim. I think my fave is the woman in gold looking over her shoulder and laughing, with the other laughing woman behind her. So fun and cinematic and decadent!

Love these! What an epic year! I’ll have to pull together a post like this I think…. 2013 was a good one! :-)

I’m so glad I got to meet you this year, and I hope I get to visit you and your cats (and husband) next year! <3

That would seriously make my heart so full of happiness, I wouldn’t even know what to do with it all except maybe vomit glittering rainbows speckled with peanut M&M’s (the best!). <3
