The Portland Flickr Crew

July 9, 2012

After playing the Web 2.0 version of phone tag I got together with a handful of friends last week for an evening of Polaroids, trespassing and margaritas at Bunk Bar.

It seems like with each year that goes by, it gets harder and harder to round people up and coordinate our busy schedules. I’m thankful for the time I got to spend with everyone last week, and look forward to more meet-ups (with more friends) in the future.

This time, the final count left us with:

Oh, and me. Hi. :)

People have been proclaiming that Flickr is dead, but if it weren’t for Flickr I might not’ve been exposed to these wonderful people and developed friendships as a result. And for every photographer that I hung out with on this day, there’s at least two more that weren’t able to make it.

I owe Flickr big time for my awesome circle of friends.

Le sigh. I tried to reply to this a while back, but I think something was wonky with my computer. In any case, this post made my heart skip a beat, a bit. I identify so much with this. I’ve trailed off so terribly from Flickr, but gosh, I learned photography as a result of joining Flickr. I really did. And was so full of adventurous inspiration thanks to people like you, Kim. God, I totally wish I was there with you all having a splendiferous time!

[…] Earlier this month, I spent an evening with some Flickr friends, wandering about industrial Southeast Portland and shooting some instant film (well, we shot whatever we felt like really). We got lucky with some gorgeous light and may have partaken in a bit of trespassing (in the name of art, of course). We had a blast and ended the evening with some cocktails and a bit of food. Here’s the evening from my POV. You can also see it in KIM‘s blog post HERE. […]

So fun. Can’t wait for next time!

This makes me miss Flickr meetups

woot for flickr meet ups! i don’t interact with flickr like i used to, but it really did give me an opportunity to meet some great people, so i definitely can’t hate.

Totally awesome – I love getting out and having fun with other photographers :)

I could not agree more! Heck, I wouldn’t know you if it weren’t for Flickr! Flickr is alive in my heart!! And, I totally love that location! I’ve snuck into it a few times, haha!

Ok. Speaking of Flickr pals: I miss you! Officially dying to photograph you in this creepy space.

Photos of me I don’t hate! I admit I cringed at first when I saw that there would be photos of me, so thank you!
And ha! love the photo of Vanessa holding the bottle of vodka! It’s my favorite vodka too!
I think you made the peel apart film look even better than it does in real life and that thing’s gorgeous.
I love Flickr for that reason too. I’ve made such good friends there. I can’t wait to hang out with you guys again (and try another margarita flavor).

Kim! I love these. I had so much fun with all y’all last friday. I need to post my shots stat. We had such great light! Eeee! Yay for flickr friends.
