Arcata (Part II): Food Porn

July 24, 2009

Breakfast: Most days I had chopped fruit topped with muesli, peanuts, plain yogurt and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Drinks: Lots of tea was consumed, and even though I don’t really drink coffee, you have to go out for it at least once when visiting Arcata! I recommend Brio, on the plaza.

I also enjoyed one too many gin and ginger ales, which somehow was coined as a “gin-gin-jaroo.” I’ll spare you that story, but let’s just say it involves lying on the floor in the upstairs bathroom while having to listen to my favorite scene in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban play on the tv downstairs! Torture!

Snacks: Coconut chews (79 cents at Wildberries, almost worth it!), mystery liquid, and Redwood Yogurt.

Lunch: Hole in the Wall sandwiches, Curley’s Grill in Ferndale (I had the overpriced fish ‘n’ chips. I have no clue what monstrosity Allyson is eating), Japhy’s (their $9 Mediterranean salad is worth every dime!) and Mexican food in Cotati (Danny’s shrimp flautas and Lindy’s tortilla-free “burrito”).

Dinner: Anniversary meal at Rita’s (one of my favorite Arcata restaurants) and my first dinner back in Redding.

There’s still 7 posts to go, but I’ll be gone this weekend photographing my sister’s wedding, so I’ll see y’all on Monday! Have a great weekend, everyone.

Hi there, I really like your entries and I really love your photos! That ginger ale one in the Ball jar especially takes me fancy because it looks so inviting and refreshing. May I ask what kind of camera equipment you use and how you process your photos? Do you touch them up in photoshop? I’m such a photography newbie it’s not even funny but I was just wondering if you slightly overexpose or turn up the brightness on some of your photos to give it that nice look?

Thanks..

I’m curious about the cat figurine thing in the last photo. Tell me about it?

They’re my mother-in-law’s salt and pepper shakers!

lovely great photos here. as usual.
thanks : )

My favorite thing is the grin on the guy-in-green as the two fresh beers clink. Little makes me happy like watching friends about to drink tall frosty beverages.

PS: Some of these better show up on your flickr stream for favoriting purposes!!
(this is where I shake my fist adamantly in the air)

Sorry, just one of them will! Although, if you’re super determined to fave away, you can go to https://www.flickr.com/photos/theawesomesummerjournal/ where I sometimes keep my blog uploads :)

Uuuuuuuuugh. Foooood poooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrn. =)
