Karen & Josh | Cozy & Sweet Honeymoon Portraits in Mt. Hood, OR

A Mt. Hood Honeymoon Adventure

I’ve shot weddings, I’ve shot engagements, I’ve shot girls with their cats, a 100th birthday party and press photos for bands. But have I ever shot someone’s honeymoon?

Well, I have now thanks to Karen & Josh. Chris and I met up with them in Mt. Hood where they rented a cabin right after getting married in their home state of Texas. It was kinda kismet, what with all four of us sharing the same last name, and vintage cans of Miller beer sitting on the back porch. And so we officially dubbed our day together: MILLER FEST 2013.

And lo, good times were had! Good times that perfectly illustrate exactly why I prefer Day In The Life sessions over standard portrait shoots. Because if there’s anything I am not, it’s a Wham Bam Thank Ya Ma’am! photographer. I’ll say it a million times if I have to: I love it when a client becomes a friend. So naturally, spending the better part of a day together and getting to know each other in between all the adventuring and camera clicking is my idea of a perfect session.

The end result of my time with Karen & Josh was something insanely personal — a day I couldn’t possibly recreate with any other couple.

Because it was all about them. Not me. Period.

What beautiful setting! The waterfall really adds drama to the collection. I also like the way the photos are edited; the dull and somewhat vintage effect is really .. melodramatic! Great work here :)

I am the lucky, lucky girl in these photos. And it’s taken me a while to post a comment because… well… what words could possibly be adequate enough to express my gratitude? It chokes me up every time. Josh and I cannot get over how incredibly genuine these photos are. We often sit on our couch with a cup of coffee, pull up our folder and relive the day, and no kidding, we’re still just as captivated. It never gets old. Kim and Chris, we consider you dear friends and think of you often. We truly hope our paths will cross again someday! Thank you for capturing some of the sweetest moments of our lives.

I’m so glad you had that kind of an opportunity, Kim! These seem so relaxed and so natural. And they’re gorgeous, obviously. It’s a great way to get to know your clients when they’re still so giddy over what they just chose to commit to.

These photos are stunning! Like really….amazing! Love them!

Oh these are all so so so so beautiful, Kim! This entire shoot should be in a magazine. =)

Such a fun and beautiful session, lots of love in these!

These are extraordinary, Kim! Some of them I just couldn’t stop staring at. I love the idea of a honeymoon shoot. Your day in the life sessions lead to such beautiful and intimate photos.

This is just about the sweetest thing I’ve seen all month. Your photos are so beautiful!

Wonderful way to tell the story Kim. That first close up of the couple with the waterfall behind them is like O. M. G. Beautiful stuff!

WOW! You’ve outdone yourself. This is the best I’ve seen.

This is so beautiful! When watching the one with waterfall tears came in my eyes.. just so much beauty..

I love the intensity of colors and moments in your shots.

Beautifully done, your colors are inspiring – especially the ones from inside the cabin!

They are the CUTEST! I love the way you photographed this. So natural and so beautiful. <3

Wow! The entire set is amazing! Love the details of the wood stove and the couple couple in front of the falls. Incredible.

Every moment of this—tender intimacy. I kept swooning. Who knew I could swoon so much? I love how active this is… everything ongoing, everything in transition. I dream of shooting for someone’s honeymoon. Magic, magic.
