Airplanes

October 9, 2011

This January will mark three years since Chris and I were in Southeast Asia. Granted, it was only my second-ever major trip but if you saw how hard I’ve been itching to go on another epic adventure, you’d phone the nearest dermatologist.

These were all taken on the Rolleiflex during my jetting around California earlier this year.

Don’t get me wrong – I love you, Portland, but I think we need to take a break from each other in 2012. Distance makes the heart grow fonder and all that. So we’re thinking… The Netherlands? (Hello, Amsterdam!) Ireland? (Hello, potatoes!) I’d even settle for Canada (Eh!).

Do you have any travel plans for 2012? I’d love to hear about any cities, states, or countries you’ve recently visited that blew your mind!

Happy daydreaming, folks. :)

dude, we are going to vancouver in 2012! just a lil’ trip. so psyched.

and how do you people (=awesome photogs) get such good aerial shots from planes? i tried and tried when i flew last month and they SUCKED. gah.

Nice! I look forward to seeing your photos from Vancouver. I’m surprised Chris and I haven’t wandered up to Canada even once since moving to Portland – I still haven’t even been to Seattle! So we might have some PNW mini-trips in our future, too.

About the aerial photos… It really IS hard. These photos are an accumulation of several plane rides I took this year. MANY shots were fired, few survived! hah. And on a Rolleiflex, no less! On a small plane it was impossible to use the viewfinder, so I just had to throw the focus to infinity, take a reading with my digital camera and PRAY FOR THE BEST! :)

My manfriend and I visited Key West, FL, in May of this year. OMG. It’s a place like no other. It’s magical and mystical and has a culture unto itself. I highly recommend it, and I am NOT a beach / sun / hot weather person.

FYI – Key West was originally called Cayo Hueso, which means Isle of Bones. RAD.

Africa. I’m planning on a major safari next year. Oh yes, it requires a lot of saving, but it is going to be BOMB.

I recently came back from a road trip through the Sth of France, there’s a couple of little cities which is beyond magical, Aix-en Provence and Roussilon :) my friend and I am already thinking of our vacation for 2012, we’d love to travel down the west of France to taste all the wines in each vineyard, but we just discussed about Antarctica the other day :) your blog is so lovely! if you go to Canada, Montreal is a must, it’s favourite place to call “home” besides Melbourne.

I have actually been itching for a Canada trip… but cannot decide between Vancouver and Montreal. I’m thinking the latter… Amsterdam is fabulous though!

Planning to climb Kilimanjaro in January, something I’ve wanted to do for a long long time.

California is going to be my destination because I’ll be broke after I move to Portland. No going back to France for me.

And yes, you should go to Amsterdam! And London, too!

Prague Prague always Prague! It’s such a beautiful city and I keep telling everyone I know that they need to go there. :-)

I want that third one.
