Parks and Recreation

This post chronicles the mini-road trip I went on with Kristina the day before I came home to Oregon. We eventually made it to our river destination in Willow Creek (a Bigfoot-obsessed town about 40 minutes East of Arcata). We nestled into a sandy corner at Tish Tang, ate sandwiches from the Co-Op and just chilled for a minute or 120 with a herd of butterflies that were hanging out with us.

But first we made a huge detour up Titlow Hill in search of herbs (yarrow, St. John’s wort and others I can’t remember). In the time that I’d been away from Humboldt, Kristina had turned into a witch doctor. It was pretty great and super educational.

The last three photos are from a makeshift path behind the Tree House that leads into the Redwood Forest.

Posts like this make me wish I kept photo albums.

The part of this post you don’t get to “enjoy” is the drive back, where we blasted the same handful of Mariah Carey songs for almost the entire way. Did I ever mention that I’m tone deaf? Yeah, there’s a video post that’ll never see the light of day. Haha. :)

I love that first shot! Is it a double? These are all lovely. Thanks for taking us along with you.

Sorry it took me so long to reply! The first shot is a double… Every once in awhile the first shot on my Rollei locks up and won’t let me advance – it forces a double exposure. So weird! Usually it’s days before I get to the second shot and I’m all flustered and upset trying to remember the composition of the first one, but this time I was ready for it. :D
